What's Happening at ECV

Becoming All Things to All People
Last week, Asha led us further into our series on imagination, inviting us to consider how we might imaginatively identify with others for the sake of the gospel. Listen here. This week, we will continue to look at the writings of Paul, the ancient church planter, and Matt will help us consider the cost of living this sort of imaginative life. What do we have to risk in order to live this way? What might others think of us if they see us “becoming,” as Paul says he did, “all things to all people”? Come on Sunday to hear more!

Fall Kickoff
Saturday 8/29 5:45p

This time of year, our city begins to welcome new people who have moved to New Haven for work, school, or family. In addition, some of us send our kids to school or start attending classes again. To celebrate that time and to cast vision for this fall at ECV, we will host a Fall Kickoff Celebration on Saturday, 8/29, at 5:45pm at 530 Norton Parkway.

There will be food from the grill, time to talk and hang out, a short time of sharing vision for this coming Fall, and a time to worship God as we invite Him to lead us into this new season. You're invited to come and celebrate with us.

Matt's Ordination
Sunday 8/30 8p

Matt Croasmun serves as our staff pastor at ECV, and he is getting ordained as a pastor in the Vineyard on 8/30 after church! Matt helped plant ECV in 2007 and has served in a variety of pastoral roles since then. Join him as he takes a next step in cementing his call from God as a pastor who teaches in the church and in the academy (through his job at Yale Center for Faith and Culture). There will be worship, testimonies, and prayer for Matt as he walks out this call that has been nurtured in our community. Come to celebrate God's work in Matt and the work God does in our lives through the Church.

ECV Ice Cream-off
Thursday 9/3 7:30p

The annual ice-cream off is a sacred gathering of ice cream eaters tasting and testing the skills of ice cream makers. (Yes, there will be prizes.) Bring your own homemade ice cream to compete in this night of laughter and indulgence, or bring your favorite store-bought ice cream to share. Either way, you don't want to miss this!

Join us next Thursday at the Kennedy's home (290 Fountain St) to partake in this night of frivolity. email Laura with questions.
