What's Happening at ECV

Imagining for the Sake of the Gospel
Last week, Josh introduced us to the power of imagination in the life of a follower of Jesus. Listen here. This week, we will continue to look at the writings of Paul, the ancient church planter, and to see how an imaginative life in God can lead to us to identify with those who are different from us for the sake of the gospel. Paul calls this kind of identification "making himself a slave" to others. How are we both free and enslaved? Come on Sunday to hear more!
Lighthouse Point Picnics
Fridays @ 5:30
Looking for more ways to enjoy New Haven in the summer? Join us every Friday evening in August at Lighthouse Point for picnics in the park. We will meet in front of the splash pad at 5:30 and enjoy some dinner, friends, and the beach!

Bring your picnic dinner and something to share. If you need a ride or can give a ride, fill out this survey at tinyurl.com/ecvrides and we will help coordinate carpooling. Email Asha with further questions.
Fall Kickoff
Saturday 8/29 5:45p
This time of year, our city begins to welcome new people who have moved to New Haven for work, school, or family. In addition, some of us send our kids to school or start attending classes again. To celebrate that time and to cast vision for this fall at ECV, we will host a Fall Kickoff Celebration on Saturday, 8/29, at 5:45pm at 530 Norton Parkway.

There will be food from the grill, time to talk and hang out, a short time of sharing vision for this coming Fall, and a time to worship God as we invite Him to lead us into this new season. You're invited to come and celebrate with us.
Matt's Ordination
Sunday 8/30 8p

Matt Croasmun serves as our staff pastor at ECV, and he is getting ordained as a pastor in the Vineyard on 8/30 after church! Matt helped plant ECV in 2007 and has served in a variety of pastoral roles since then. Join him as he takes a next step in cementing his call from God as a pastor who teaches in the church and in the academy (through his job at Yale Center for Faith and Culture). There will be worship, testimonies, and prayer for Matt as he walks out this call that has been nurtured in our community. Come to celebrate God's work in Matt and the work God does in our lives through the Church.
