What's Happening at ECV

Becoming a Truth-Telling Community
On Sunday, Josh described vividly the scale and scope of what God is doing in the world through Jesus. Baptism into Christ amounts to nothing less than entering a new world that God is remaking. It was a phenomenal talk; check it out here.  Remaking the world, of course, entails dismantling some things to which we've become attached. Following Jesus into the new creation entails disentangling ourselves from much that we (wrongly) hold dear. Josh suggested that these things include the value judgments we attach to categories like: race, ethnicity, class, and gender. It's a lot to process. This week, Matt takes us further into Galatians where Paul asks whether we can handle the truth that God's remaking of the world exposes about our prejudices. Paul asks: "Have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?" (Gal 4:16) Join us as we consider what it means to become a truth-telling community.
Join the Sprouts Team

This has been an exciting summer for our Childrens Ministry! We have been blessed with an amazing group of teachers, we have seen so much growth in our kids, and some exciting new changes with Asha Evans becoming our new Family Pastor. As Asha begins to cast vision for sprouts we can already see God's tremendous blessing in our space, in our kids, and in our teachers. Would you prayerfully consider joining our team as a teacher or worship leader? God is leading us into a new season of growth and dreaming and you can be apart of it! If you have any questions about sprouts, email Asha or Laura.

Interested in Baptism?

On Sunday, Josh shared on the power of baptism – an opportunity to join the story of Jesus in dying to the old and being raised with Christ into new life. If you have not been baptized and want to consider this ancient ritual as a next step in your life of faith, please contact Josh with your interest and any questions. Additionally, Josh mentioned the Spirit’s work in baptizing people to mark renewal and empowerment. ECV’s prayer team would love to make themselves available for extended prayer ministry for anyone interested in that. Contact Josh for more details.
Global Conference Talk

At the end of his talk, Josh mentioned a watershed moment for the Vineyard Movement that occurred last Thursday morning during theVineyard Global Family Conference, a week-long meeting inviting over 60 nations and 4,000 people to Columbus, OH for a time of celebration, renewal, and direction. Through a last minute cancellation, Charles Montgomery – a site pastor at the Columbus Vineyard -was invited to speak on God’s heart for multi-culturalism and the Vineyard’s role in that call. What follows the talk is a powerful, spontaneous, and occasionally imperfect Spirit-led response that gives hope for our movement’s ability to listen, discern, and obey even when it deals with the ways we’ve missed the mark. Take a listen here. It starts at 1:33.
