What's Happening at ECV

ECV's Interim Location

ECV is on the move!  This Sunday (9/14) will be ECV's first Sunday in our new interim space, Trinity Lutheran Church.  The church is on the corner of Orange & Wall St.  Here it is on a map!  There is street parking on Orange and Wall streets (free on Sunday).

Thank you so much for your support and prayer during this process.  Trinity Lutheran Church, a partner in another ministry with ECV, agreed early on to provide an interim space if our negotiations with other churches needed more time.  That, indeed, is the case and you will hear more updates about our long-term building search as we receive them.  We are so thankful for Trinity Lutheran's partnership with us, and the fact that they are providing this space as a free gift to us.  It is a great thing to see God's generosity in the Body of Christ.

We also need that generosity from you all once more!  You are invited to join us for a moveout day this Saturday (9/13) 9am - 1pm at UCG where we will transport our Sprouts, Worship, and Set-up equipment to Trinity Lutheran.  Here's a survey to facilitate your involvement.  Thanks!
Invitation to a Time of Prayer and Fasting

ECV is in an exciting time of transition and change.  This time requires prayer for spiritual protection, favor from God, joy throughout this process, and courage and faith to pray for what we need.  At ECV, we have found times of prayer and fasting to be fruitful and directive in seasons like these.

On Wednesday (9/10), you are invited to fast from lunch and Friday (9/12) we invite you to do a 24 hour fast (if not from food, then from technology, entertainment, etc.). Consider joining this fast in whatever way seems most beneficial and praying with us during this time.
Pray for God to speak to our community at ECV and to the folks from other churches who are discerning a potential partnership with ECV.  If you happen to hear something you feel is from God for our church, e-mail staff@elmcityvineyard.org.
Called

On Sunday, Josh started our new series, "Called."  Two questions that helped framed the talk were, "What if life involves more than the pursuit of a calling whether that's a dream job or your ideal vocation in life?  What if we have someone who is calling us forward and guiding us as we live our lives day to day?"  Josh talked about the radical notion that we are each called by name, known by God, and pursued by Him in love.  You can listen to the talk here.

Throughout the rest of our series, we will continue to explore how being called by God has the power to change our lives, to ground us, and to direct us.  This will affect our lives, our community, and the city and world around us.  This Sunday, we will focus on being called by tribe and reflect on how Jesus engages the way we group ourselves by affinity, ethnicity, and other kinds of difference.
