What's Happening at ECV

A Costly Love
On Sunday, Josh kicked off our Lent series, "A Costly Love." He shared that if we want to love others in a costly way, we first need to receive God's costly love for ourselves.  Listen to the talk here. Indeed, God invites us to slow down, to stop chasing after the wind, and to turn towards Him. In this season, that is exactly what we are doing together. Our hope is that we grow in love towards God and love towards others in a way that will mark our community for years to come. Next Sunday, Liz Moore will share about the costs of forgiveness and why it's essential to loving God and loving others well.

Lenten Dinners
Every Friday up to 3/27

This Lent, we want ECV to grow in unity. Building unity often involves a cost of time, effort, and prayer. Given that, one important invitation for us is a communal fast on Fridays during the daylight hours. Fasting is a way to mark an internal desire to be filled by God through an external practice of withholding something like food (feel free to substitute food with something else, if needed). We will break our fast together at dinner time. To facilitate this, three homes will be open for simple dinners (rice & beans, soup, etc.) every Friday until 3/27.
The three homes are:

Asha and Robb's @ 530 Norton Parkway. 5:30pm. Family-friendly.

Josh and Tina's @ 66 Kensington St. 7:30pm. Dinner followed by prayer and worship.

Ed Limmer & the Mansfield Area Crew @182 Mansfield St. 6:30pm.

Please find a location and time that works for you and join us for simple meals. Feel free to bring something to the table, most importantly, you! If you need a ride,
e-mail Laura

SAVE THE DATE!
3/14, Spiritual Formation Day

As we seek to love others well this Lent, we will notice that our love can easily run dry. As a church, we want to be invested in our spiritual and emotional health - the ways we are formed on the inside. Love is not simply something we do, love is what we can carry with God's help. The art of spiritual formation helps us notice how we are doing carrying love (for God, for others, for ourselves) these days. OnSaturday3/14, you are invited to an ECV Spiritual Formation Day from 9:30am - 4:30pm at the Caritas Center in Hamden.

There will be a light breakfast and lunch. The actual cost is $18 but feel free to pay what you can. Registration and more info will be available soon!
