What's Happening at ECV

The Power Paradox

The Twelve Steps of Transformation has been a journey oriented around a paradox: The only way to gain leverage over what needs changing in our lives is to admit that we are powerless to change on our own. The 12th Step asks us to imagine building a community around this paradox. This week, Matt invites us to imagine a community built not around our strength, but around our weakness and around our encounter with a God who has power even to raise the dead.

Holy Week

Maundy ThursdayApril 17, 7pm, Center Church on the Green
Good FridayApril 18th, 6pm, United Church on the Green

There are two opportunities this week to gather with the body of Christ to reflect on the events leading up to Jesus' death and resurrection. On Thursday, Center Church is providing a Maundy Thursday service to focus the last supper and Jesus washing the feet of the disciples. In observance of Good Friday, ECV will host a time of reflection on the significance of the death of Jesus through scripture, poetry and art. Our speaker, Jim Rolf, will help us consider the role of lament in the process of transformation, which has been our theme for the Lenten season. Childcare will be provided.

Prayer Walk

Saturday, April 19th
1:30pm
United Church on the Green

Connecting to the city is one of our core values at ECV, but sometimes it's hard to know where to start. How can we impact New Haven for the Kingdom of God? The first step is to pray...pray for the place were we live. Join us on April 19th for a prayer walk around New Haven to lift up the city in prayer and to listen for God's heart for the city. We will meet at 1:30pmon the steps of UCG.

Life With a Living God: Miracle Work

April 25th-26th

Life with a Living God: Miracle Work is a dynamic conference that engages the question: is it possible to be "down to earth" and to pursue God's invitation to heal, to free, and to be a people responsive to His voice?  Can such a grand invitation ever feel right for our everyday lives?  Let's take some time to be with God and learn more about how to "do the Kingdom."  No matter where you are with God, this is an invitation to take risks and to explore more what it means to see God's Kingdom come in our lives in the here and now. For more information visit the registration page.
