Loving our neighbors

During this Lenten season we are seeking to be formed by God's love that we may, in turn, love others well. With that desire in mind, prayerfully consider participating in one or more of the following opportunities we have as a church to serve the homeless population of New Haven.

Sunday, March 18th - Chapel on the Green
@ Trinity Episcopal Church (230 Temple Street - Use Side Door)
12:30pm - Putting together Lunches
2:00pm - Worship Gathering and Sharing Lunch Together

Join us as we worship with and serve the homeless and other fellow New Haven residents on the Green. ECV will be providing and serving lunches for those gathered on the Green. As an added bonus, Josh Williams will also be giving a very brief teaching at the worship gathering.

Contact Hannah Croasmun (hannah@elmcityvineyard.org) if you're interested in participating.

Wednesday, March 28th - ECV @ Abraham's Tent
@ United Church on the Green (270 Temple Street)

Abraham's Tent is a collaborative effort between Columbus House (New Haven's largest homeless shelter) and local faith communities, who take turns hosting a select group of 12 men who would otherwise be in the shelter. We will again be partnering with United Church on the Green, Shalom UCC, Metropolitan Community Church, and the Yale Divinity School to host the group at UCG during the week of 3/26 - 4/1.

We're still looking for 1 or 2 more volunteers for each of the following tasks:
4:00 - 7:00pm: Prepare dinner and eat together with the guests and volunteers
6:00 - 9:00pm Organize evening activities
8:00pm - 6:00am: Stay overnight at the church (from about 8pm - 6am)

Contact Brendan Kolb (brendan.kolb@yale.edu) to volunteer.

Thursday, April 5th
Maundy Thursday Foot Care Clinic - hosted by Chapel on the Green
@ behind Trinity Episcopal Church (230 Temple Street)
1:00 -3:00pm

- Volunteer to serve lunch, manage the line, wash feet, support feet washing stations, distribute socks and issue shoe vouchers.
OR
- Donate new socks AND/OR funds for a new shoes. If you would like to donate toward shoe vouchers, make checks payable to Trinity Church with "Foot Clinic" in the memo.

Foot care is a critical issue for those living on the streets. We will have medical staff to perform foot examinations. We are also distributing socks and shoe vouchers thanks to discounts from Bob's Stores in Hamden.

Contact Hannah Croasmun (hannah@elmcityvineyard.org) if you're interested in helping.
