Introducing... our ECV Youth Ministry Intern - George Black!

This past Sunday, we were so excited to welcome George Black as our new ECV Youth Ministry Intern! Many of you probably know George either from hearing his awesome voice singing in Elm City Voices or on the worship team, or from his leadership in WyldLife Club (the Jr. High group that is part of Young Life New Haven, an ECV Partner) or even in his work with LEAP, a local youth development non-profit.

This year, George will be working with a team to start planning events and activities that will reach the youth (ages 11- 17yrs) in New Haven! He is currently looking for folks who are interested in dreaming and planning with him to build a youth ministry in ECV!

If you are at all interested in working with youth, please contact George for more info.

Support Famine Relief in East Africa: Purchase "Serenity" by Tina Colon Williams (at www.tinacolon.com)

As many of you have probably heard, the horn of Eastern Africa-- specifically the nation of Somalia-- is currently suffering from a devastating famine. According to NBC, 11 million (other sources say up to 13 million) people in the Horn of Africa need food assistance.

As we heard during Announcement on Sunday - In response, Tina and Juliet have decided to release a new studio recording of "Sincerity," written by Tina and produced by Juliet, and give all proceeds to responsible and proven organizations working against the famine in Eastern Africa.

For more info (and to purchase the song), visit: www.tinacolon.com

Vineyard Conference Opportunity- RE:FORM Conference in Baltimore

Hey everyone, I attended this conference last year and is is a great opportunity to network with like-minded folks within and outside of the Vineyard movement who are actually DOING something about key issues of our time: human trafficking, environmental stewardship, missional living in urban centers to name a few. Kathy Maskell

The 2009 RE:FORM Conference will be held at Cedar Ridge Community Church in Baltimore, Md. area Sept. 16-18. This year’s conference will focus on three of RE:FORM’s seven areas of crisis:

  • Human Injustice
  • Environmental Decline
  • Spiritual Confusion

Each topic will be covered in a main session by practitioners followed by workshops on each of the tracks that will equip, train, and inspire churches and church leaders regarding ways to engage their congregation in addressing these issues on a local and international level. Attendees will have plenty of time to interact with speakers and workshop leaders in an environment that encourages and fosters networking, collaboration and the sharing of good ideas for the purposes of engaging others to care about topics covered in the conference.

Registration $129.00
Student Discount Registration $59.00

Holy Spirit Ministry Conference - SAVE THE DATE: July 17-18

Dear ECV:

This summer we are going to host a small conference on the ministry of the Holy Spirit. The focus will be on hearing from God, life in the power of the Holy Spirit, and following Jesus against the odds.

There will be practical teaching from scripture, lots of great stories, and plenty of time for prayer and listening to God.

We have some wonderful (not to mention massively gifted) folks coming out to facilitate this meeting, including Jordan and Sonya Seng (pastors of Bluewater Mission, Hawaii), Robin Morrison (prophetic guy from Anaheim Vineyard), and David Ruis (worship leader / church planter / justice nut). These are our kind of people...you will love them.

The conference has come together in such a way that we have a strong hunch that it is going to be a really significant time for many of us. You should be stoked about this!

We may charge a nominal fee to cover some costs....but it will not be prohibitive at all. Also, there will be a small meeting for current church leaders (groups, worship, teaching, etc.) happening on Thursday night. So if that is you, please save Thursday night as well.

We will send more info nearer the time, but for now, please do two things.

1) SAVE THE DATES: Friday July 17th (evening) -- Saturday July 18th (9am-9pm)

2) SEND ME AN EMAIL TO RSVP SO WE CAN GET A SENSE OF THE NUMBERS

right on. lots of love,

-caleb.
