"Doing Church in the City"
Dinner and Conversation with Mo Leverett
Saturday, 1/26/08, 4:30-6:30
Matt & Hannah's place (79 Maple St #1)
RSVP to hannah@elmcityvineyard.org

Saturday, 1/26, at 4:30, we will have a special opportunity to have a conversation with Mo Leverett, founder of Desire Street Ministries in New Orleans, about the unique challenges presented by doing church in the city. He is in town for the weekend speaking at several Connecticut universities and has agreed to spend some time just with Elm City Vineyard folk, because of his passion for urban church planting. It should be a great time to seek further what God has for us in building His Kingdom in our city.

In 1990, Mo and his wife Ellen moved into the Upper 9th Ward of New Orleans, one of the city's most impoverished and crime-ridden areas. Mo began working as a high school football coach and leading home Bible studies for youth in the neighborhood. Over the next 15 years, he directed Desire Street Ministries, developing a multi-faceted ministry including a church plant, a medical clinic, alliances with local churches, an urban private Christian academy, a community center, and economic development initiatives. Since 2006, Mo has sought to help and inspire similar ministries in other cities through Rebirth International. Mo is also an accomplished bluegrass musician and original songwriter.

Interested? Please RSVP to Hannah at hannah@elmcityvineyard.org

So, what was the upshot of Mo's visit? Useful things for ECV to ponder and consider?
