CANCELLED: Thursday of Kickball

ECV Kickball CANCELLED

Due to the deluge that is supposed to last all day, we're going to go ahead and cancel kickball for this evening. We'll look for another opportunity before too long.

UPDATE: Kickball will happen as the pinnacle event of the ECV Summer Games (this Saturday).

Flickr Group!

In looking for photos to help illustrate various parts of the talk I gave Sunday afternoon, it occurred to me that it'd be great if we had one central place where we could share photos of our community.

So, we set up a group on Flickr (the photo-sharing site). You can see the pictures currently posted here. You can join the group and add your own photos here.

You will notice that the children in our church are particularly amazing. Enjoy!

Vineyard Regional Conference Talks

A couple weeks ago, several of us went down to the Vineyard East Regional Conference. It was a really inspiring time, connecting with folks from across the eastern region of the Vineyard movement (from Virginia to Maine). The talks—centered around the theme of engaging with our cities and the broader culture—were especially confirming of the desires that we have for our church. It's always good to feel like you have folks who share your vision and are seeing good things happen.

Anyway, the talks are now available on mp3 for download. (While the first talk is great, the audio quality of the recording is so poor, you may prefer to start with the second.)

Kensington/Dwight Neighborhood Tour & Prayer Walk!

Date: Saturday, July 19th
Time: 10:00am - 11:30am
Place: 79 Kensington Street (near the corner of Kensington & Edgewood Streets)

Come join us as ECV tours and prays for the Dwight neighborhood (particularly around Kensington Street) on July 19th! The tour will be given by people living on (and working for) Kensington Street!

ALL are invited to join us as we learn about and pray together for this neighborhood.

In an effort to learn more about God's Heart for New Haven (and also to learn more about New Haven...), over the next few months, the ECV Local Outreach Task Force Team will be organizing Prayer Walks/Tours of specific Neighborhoods within New Haven. Our first tour of the Newhallville Neighborhood was a eye-opening time, and we are hoping that God will show up for this tour (and future tours) as well!

Get excited to see and hear what God has for this city!

Friday Night at the Drive In

Friday, 7/11 @ 8pm
173 Norton St. (in the backyard)

Hot summer nights, drive in movies under the stars, popcorn and red vines... all of this and more (sans cars) can be had THIS FRIDAY night at the Sharp's backyard drive-in movie theatre. Yes, Thursday nights of awesomeness this week is happening on Friday. (July 11th) Showtime will be at dusk (8ish). We'll kick back lawn chairs and watch a most interesting and entertaining film with spiritual/theological themes with optional discussion afterwards (Tom's open to suggestions, so email if you know a film that fits the bill). If time and interest allow, we may even do a double feature (all good drive-ins offer double features). Sharps will provide the popcorn and soda. You can bring your favorite candy, cookies, chips and dip or other favorite edible. In case of rain, we'll crowd inside.

See you Friday!

Pre-Independence Day BBQ

July 3rd @ 7pm
530 Norton Parkway
What to bring: Something to grill for yourself and a side to share.

Come celebrate the day-before-Independence-Day (Dependence Day? Interdependence Day?) at the Saperstein-Blum residence at 530 Norton Parkways (aka the "Ark"). Should be a good, casual time to hang out and kick-off the long holiday weekend.

Bring something to grill for yourself and a side to share. If you need help getting hungry in advance of the BBQ, you can help Titus and Julianne move in down the street Thursday afternoon.

See you there!
