May ECV Potluck This Sunday (5/25)!

Date: THIS Sunday, May 25th
Time: Sunday Gathering starts at 4:00pm, Dinner at 6:00pm
Place: United Church on the Green - Fellowship Hall

If you are around for Memorial Day Weekend, then join us for our ECV Monthly Potluck (following our Sunday Gathering) - This is a time when we gather together as a whole body to celebrate in extended communion with one another (and it's a great opportunity to invite friends!)

If you are part of one of our homegroups, you will find out what sort of dish to bring (Main Dishes, Side Dishes, or Desserts/Beverages).

Otherwise, feel free to bring a dish to share (make something for 10 - 12 people)!

Newhallville Neighborhood Tour & Prayer Walk!

Date: Sunday, June 1st
Time: 1:30pm - 2:30pm
Place: St. Andrew's Episcopal Church (266 Shelton Avenue)

Come join us as ECV tours and prays for the Newhallville neighborhood on June 1st! The tour will be given by people living in and working for Newhallville (including members from St. Andrew's - an ECV partner)

ALL are invited to join us as we learn about and pray together for this neighborhood.

In an effort to learn more about God's Heart for New Haven (and also to learn more about New Haven...), over the next few months, the ECV Local Outreach Task Force Team will be organizing Prayer Walks/Tours of specific Neighborhoods within New Haven. Newhallville will be our first tour, but stay tuned for future ones to come.

Get excited to see and hear what God has for this city!

It is the season for baptisms! Come join us as we baptize Destiny Leake.

Destiny encountered Jesus for the first time a couple years ago in college (Wesleyan) but has never really felt connected to a church community to the point of wanting to be baptized into a fellowship before finding Jesus in our community over the past year--especially through her homegroup on Thursdays.

Come and celebrate Destiny's baptism with us!

Values:

• Fellowship and friendship— Being together to share a meal: "table fellowship" as a special time once a month.


• Physical health— The meals will be nutritious, and neighborhood walks will be encouraged (see also "fellowship and friendship," & "important conversations").


• Simplicity—The meals will be cheaply and quickly made, and the "BYOB:
  bring your own bowl" policy will prevent paper waste as well as an
  excess of dishes.


• Sharing— We share not only a meal together, but openly invite co-workers, neighbors, friends, and anyone off the street who would like to join us. We'll make recipe cards available with invitation-information on the back.


• Important conversations— Can we solve the world's problems over a shared meal? We can at least try…


• Flexibility— We will pray for the meal at 7:30 and will start cleaning up at 9:30, but welcome people to linger 'til 10, or just stop by for a quick bite to eat.
